Getting Unstuck In Your Data Career

Whether you’re a data engineer, data scientist, or software engineer, there are situations you can get yourself in that hold you back.

You just get stuck, and are unsure how to grow to the next stage of your career.

This could be because you don’t have a mentor that can help guide you to the next step; you get constantly stuck in cycles of horizontal skilling, or you don’t spend time learning the business.

Of course, you may get stuck for plenty of reasons.

Here, I wanted to outline a few of these issues and how you can continue to grow as an engineer.

Horizontal Skilling; Just Because

A few weeks back, I discussed the concept of tutorial hell and how to break out of it. But I would also like to point out that there are other cycles engineering types can get stuck in.

One of those cycles is the constant horizontal skilling.
